I’ve always loved the little line-drawings in dictionaries. For Mud I did my take on one of those illustrations. The background photo is actual mud from my very own backyard. This design also features some of my famous handwriting and letter drawing. Poster (11×17):

Starting out with a great photograph by Christopher Shea it wasn’t hard to come up with a really nice design. I just let the type dance around the image picking up colors along the way.

This was a revival of the original Nemesis poster from back in 2000 which was printed offset with fluorescent blue and metallic silver spot colors. This Nemesis Trilogy poster was a digital print but I stuck with the 3-plate æsthetic and only used flat colors and a chunky halftone screen on the cyan background.

For this installment of the Nemesis series of productions the plot took us on a spy voyage to the Himalayas. I was inspied by 1960s-era spy movie graphics and typography and a great stock photo of a Tibetan mountain range which I tinted and cropped to make it a little more other-worldly.
